The performance of mechanical cooling systems will be negatively impacted as ducting lengths increase, because of the reduced mass flow rate from increased static pressure. In the table, we provide correction factors for each of our cooling units when front-ducted at various duct lengths, measured in equivalent feet. The correction factor should be applied when sizing our cooling systems, if the cold air supply and return will be ducted to and from the wine cellar.

In addition to applying the correction factor below, you will need to add load to your box load calculation when ducting the cold side of the cooling unit. To calculate the additional load, please refer to our 6-inch duct load calculation, 8-inch duct load calculation, 10-inch duct load calculation, 12-inch duct load calculation, and 14-inch duct load calculation tables. The static pressure from ducting the cold air supply and return will cause the cooling unit's BTUH performance to be diminished according to the correction factors listed above. For example, CellarPro 4200VSi cooling unit, which produces 3938 BTUH at 55°F with the High Fan Speed, would produce 3741 BTUH (ie correction factor of 0.95) with total cold air supply and return ducting of 50 equivalent feet.

When measuring total equivalent feet, start with the total linear feet for both the air supply and return on the COLD side. Then, add 8 feet for EVERY 90-degree turn in the ducting.
